The British Museum‘s collection of seven million objects represents the rich history of human cultures and features many archaeological findings.

The Museum is home to, among many other things, plaster remnants from ancient Egypt. Finds of painted plaster show that Egyptian houses were originally decorated using many colours.

Painted plaster from outside a house, from Tell el-Amarna, around 1345 BC.
